MAIMIE GOES UNDERWATER WITH CLAUDIA LEGGE

Posted on

Claudia Legge is a photographer based in London. Primarily shooting underwater, her work is exhibited worldwide and has featured in the likes of Creative Review, My Modern Met, The Huffington Post, MTV, Harper’s Bazaar (Brazil), Sony and Suitcase Magazine.

We thought we'd collaborate with the talented Claudia and capture the magic of her underwater realm. Wrapped in swathes Liberty London silk - model Georgia Kerr floats in ethereal beauty, exploring the tension of light and colour, femininity and movement.

1. What first got you into photography?

I have always loved photography and always had a camera with me. I first started taking pictures of my friends when I was a teenager. It came quite naturally to me and I knew from a very young age I wanted to be a photographer.

 2. What do you take inspiration from?

I take inspiration from colour and materials. I'm so inspired by colour and the way light reacts with colour.

 3. Why underwater?

I'm a bit of a water baby and love the fact that shooting underwater is a form of escapism.

 4. Tell us about The World Wide Woman Collective? How did you get involved and what does it mean for you?

I got asked to join World Wide Woman after I graduated from Leeds University. It is a platform where female artists promote one another and exhibit together around the world.

 5. What’s coming up next for you?

I am about to have a solo show at The Ice House Gallery in Holland Park called 'Places'. I will be exhibiting new work from Cuba, Iceland and The Galapagos Islands.

 6.Why Maimie London?

I think Maimie London has the most incredible clothes. I love the way they look and how flattering they are. It’s also great to have trousers that look smart but are so comfortable.

You can see more of Claudia Legge's work here and visit her 'Places' exhibition, running from 30th August - 11 September, The Ice house Gallery, Holland Park
